Astrex Fur === refers to Astrex rabbits showing curl and / or wave in rex fur type. (Astrex rabbits will/shall carry the wa wa (double recessive) for wave/curl gene and will gain/increase in curl/wave until they reach 18 ~ 24 months of age) (Astrex rabbits MUST show CURL and / or wave in rex coats to be classified as Astrex rabbits, and maintained in our Data Base ~~ and may also exhibit all three fur types: CURLY, and WAVY and Kinky fur with the predominance of fur being CURLY and/or Wavy) NOTE: OUR goal is to breed FULL FLEDGED CURLY ASTREX with curly rex fur distributed over the entire head/body that resemble the blue Astrex buck from 1945. Astrex Type Fur === refers to rabbits showing wavy and kinkiness of the rex fur or nearly rex fur type and the animal must not loose this, but must keep this fur type until reaching maximum wave at 18--24 months, to be accepted and maintained as Astrex Type rabbits in our Data Base. Kinky Fur Type === Refers to rabbits with a kinkiness (or slight wave) of individual hairs in rex or nearly rex fur type. These rabbits may have a kink to the ends of individual hairs, or a slight wave to each individual hair. (These fur type rabbits WILL NOT be listed as Astrex rabbits, or Astrex Type rabbits, but as KINKY FUR TYPE rabbits used in Astrex Rabbit and Astrex Type Rabbit development.) (An Astrex or Astrex Type rabbit may have may have curly/wavy AND kinky fur, but KINKY FUR TYPE rabbits will not be included as Astrex or Astrex Type.) Best Modern Way to Describe Astrex Fur: Take a very silky textured poodle (dog) and shear/clip it. When the poodle fur starts to grow back, after about a week, AND is Rex Rabbit Fur length, and which is short, silky, and with CURLS, waves, "cowlicks", ripples, "waterwaves", going in EVERY direction, but is too short to make a complete ringlet curl !! ~~ This greatly approximates Astrex rabbit fur...and thus describes Meek's "water waved" Astrex buck. This is the standard of Astrex rabbit we are striving to save from extinction, using all our available Astrex and Astrex Type stock to do so. Rett Only through the extremely rare appearance of Astrex Type "sports" have I/we been able to reproduce Astrex Type Rabbits in the last 5 1/2 years. Astrex/Astrex Type "sports" must be crossed with other Astex Types to stabilize modifiers and other genes involved. This is why other rabbit breeders have graciously donated their rare Astrex Type sport kits to our Astrex Redevelopment program, for which we are kindly thankful! This is why we are not yet selling Astrex Rabbits...because we wish develop fully curly wavy rex ~~ that will reproduce it's kind with each breeding... hence, TRUE Astrex Rabbits !!
